John Michael Lindow

John Michael Lindow, 68, passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2026, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska.

John was born on Jan. 19, 1958, in Anchorage, and lived there near family his entire life.

He graduated from Dimond High School in 1976.

John was a driftnet fisherman for most of his life: in Cook Inlet from 1970-1976 and 2002-2007, and in Bristol Bay from 1976-2001. He was also a hunting guide on the Alaska Peninsula from 1989-1994.

John met his partner April Schroppel in 1987, and they remained together until he passed.

John was very capable, helpful and kind, a wonderful brother, friend and partner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Ruth D. Lindow.

He is survived by his partner of 40 years, April Schroppel; brothers, Thomas Lindow, Anthony "Tony" Lindow, Jeffrey Lindow, Erik Lindow and William "Bill" Lindow; and many extended family members and friends.

John's ashes will be scattered on the waters of Cook Inlet in summer 2027.

A celebration of John's life will be held at the Anchorage Moose Lodge, 4211 Arctic Boulevard, on Sept. 11, 2026.
