Seth Alan Marquette, 49, died by suicide on June 17, 2026. He was born on Dec. 15, 1976, to Linda Van Wallinga, nee Murdock, and Terry Marquette in Fairbanks, Alaska, and grew up in North Pole and Wasilla. Youth theater sparked a lifelong passion and propelled Seth to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration, focusing on theater management, at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. He also studied economics at Oxford University in England. After completing his studies, Seth moved to New York City and set his sights on Broadway. He began working at New York City Center Theater shortly thereafter and went on to manage countless Broadway shows over 25 years. Seth was well-respected in his industry, known for his sharp budget acumen and great care for his colleagues. Seth's love for theater was matched only by his love for travel, visiting more than 58 countries in his short life. He was also passionate about his friends, family and human rights. Seth was wickedly funny and extremely smart. His jokes and quick commentary would send his siblings into breathless, tearful fits of laughter - often in the most inconvenient and public settings. In Seth's last communication, he told his loved ones to dance when they hear a Madonna song and think of him when they travel. His enduring legacy will be one of joy and adventure. Seth is preceded in death by his parents, Linda Van Wallinga and Terry Marquette. He's survived by his stepfather, Fred Van Wallinga; stepmother, Meg Nordale; siblings, Josh, Mike and Katie Marquette; nieces and nephews, Jack, Mackie, Ava, Tillie and James; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends across the country.
