Steven Silver
Mar 31, 2026
Steven William Silver, 74, of Vienna, Va., passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Sandra "Sandy" Stone Silver, and the committed father of three wonderful sons: David (Kristina), Ethan (Brittany) and Adam (Hallie). He is survived by his sister, Rosalind Silver; and six grandchildren, Evan, Louise, Asher, Madeline, Maxine and Hudson. He is predeceased by his parents, Betty and Harry.
Steve was a thriving attorney and lobbyist, fiercely dedicated to his clients. He was a maverick. After graduating from law school, he moved to the last frontier of Anchorage, Alaska, in 1975, to work as an attorney for the state "when no one else could be bothered to give me a job." After a stint working as a Capitol Hill staffer and Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Ted Stevens, Steve joined the Alaska-based law firm Robertson, Monagle & Eastaugh in Juneau. He later settled in the Washington, D.C., area with his wife to build his family and career. He went on to successfully serve hundreds of clients, positively impacting communities all around Alaska and the country.
An avid Denver Broncos fan and a dog lover with a strong wit, he and Sandy were drawn to explore the world. From Alaska to Antarctica, he was always planning their next expedition. His proudest achievement was raising his three sons with Sandy. Across many weekend sports events, Boy Scout campouts and adventurous family trips, he instilled in them a sense of humor, hard work, curiosity and civic duty. His family will miss him greatly.
The family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to: The Alaska Historical Society (Wohlforth book project), P.O.
