Oct 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Robert Morberg, who departed this world on Oct. 18, 2025. He was 81 years old.

Born in Crookston, Minn., Keith grew up with a spirit of adventure, compassion and unwavering dedication to his family. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, wisdom and gentle humor.

Keith was devoted to his family above all else. He is survived by his siblings, Marilys "Mim" Mikulecky, David and Mark Morberg; children, Kenneth and Bryan Morberg; and grandchildren. During his final days with us, Keith was visited by friends and family. He was surrounded in love and passed peacefully. He was a guiding light, a steadfast supporter and a source of unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled in us and the memories we hold dear.

Keith grew up in Minnesota, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School and attending college at the University of Minnesota where he obtained a B.S. in civil engineering. Keith worked as a civil engineer for the Alaska Department of Transportation, where he was respected for his intelligence, integrity, hard work and dedication. He started his time with the DOT in 1964, when he came up as a summer hire, working just after the earthquake. He worked on a survey crew expanding the roadway between Palmer and Anchorage. He retired from the DOT in 1998. He spent his time after DOT as a contract project director. He worked for several companies including GCI, where he worked on the project to bring their fiber optic cables to Alaska. He retired from all work in 2010.

He was passionate spending time with family in and out of Alaska, hosting family and friends on many Alaska adventures. He found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, shooting skeet and golf. He took family and friends on many trips outdoors, from hunting and fishing around the Susitna River area to fishing out of Homer and Seward. He loved traveling to Montana to hunt pheasants. He spent many of his later years snowbirding out of Alaska, to golf through the Lower 48 and was an active member of his homeowner's association.

Keith's warmth, generosity and gentle smile will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship and kindness.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Nov. 14, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial, beginning at 1 p.m. for the visitation and 2 p.m. for the memorial. Keith will be laid to rest in Crookston in summer 2026 in his parent's burial plot. Dates and times of that service are still to be determined. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate his wonderful life. We will forever carry Dad's love in our hearts. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in every life he touched. May he rest in peace.

"It is what it is."
