It is with great sadness that the family of Leslie "Les" Charles Kofoid announce his passing. Les passed away on Oct. 18, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Les was born in Bottineau, N.D., on Jan. 4, 1949, to Charles and Genevieve "Genny" Kofoid. At a young age he moved to California, where he attended schools in Eureka and Arcata. After high school, Les enlisted in the United States Navy, where he was a radarman on three separate ships. Following his service in the Navy, he moved to Juneau, and then later Anchorage, Alaska, where he made his permanent home.
Les went on to meet Sharon in a bowling league at Center Bowl and through group outings at LaMex. In 1981, Les and Sharon were married and soon after he sold his cherished Trans Am to use as a down payment for their family home, where they later raised their children Ryan and Kim.
Les was a truck driver for Anchorage Cold Storage, K&L Distributors and People Mover and was a longtime Teamster Union member. He retired from both the Teamsters and People Mover.
Les was a music enthusiast and had an expansive music collection. He would wake up early to spend time in his man cave and listen to music while enjoying his coffee. He loved to share his music passion with friends and family, and often talked about the concerts and music venues he had been to over the course of his life.
Les thoroughly enjoyed motorsports and as an avid rider he owned 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers and dirt bikes throughout his adult life. As a young adult he would spend the majority of his weekends either at the motocross track or out camping at places such as Knik or Sutton. Later in life he spent a lot of his days riding his 4-wheeler to the Knik glacier with his good friend Rich. Les' passion for motorsports was passed down to his family.
Les was never prouder than when he spoke about his children and grandchildren. He considered his family his greatest joy. That pride and immense love was of great importance to him.
Les is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Kofoid; son, Ryan Kofoid (wife Amy); Kim Casler (husband Melvin); four grandchildren, Aubrey and Brayden Casler and Eisley and Ethan Kofoid; brothers, Dave Kofoid, Tim Kofoid and Dan Bundy (Mary); and sisters, Peggy Larson (Matthew), Susan Lebell (Randy) and Kathy Mears (Greg).
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Nov. 25, 2025, in Anchorage. Location to be announced at a later date.
