Francisco "Frank" or "Frankie" Mizal Javier

Sep 14, 1946 -

Oct 2, 2025

Surrounded by family, Frank Javier was called to Heaven on Oct. 2, 2025, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

Born in the Philippines, Frank moved with his parents, Paula and Goody, to Guam, then Sacramento, and later Juneau, Alaska, where he graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1966. He earned an associate degree in psychology and sociology from Anchorage Community College while working for the State of Alaska. A proud naturalized citizen, Frank, served with the Kulis Air National Guard, retiring as a Tech Sergeant in 2003.

Active in his community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, founding member of the Anchorage Mabuhay Lions Club, member of the American Legion, FCA and AFFA.

A lifelong performer, Frank began dancing at age three and continued showcasing Filipino, ballroom, rock and roll, and country styles for decades. With a deep understanding of rhythm, mathematics and melody he loved sharing and teaching piano and drums and played with several Anchorage bands. Through parish music ministry, he met and married his forever friend, Sally, and served Catholic parishes for more than 50 years.

Despite a 2010 diagnosis of congestive heart failure, Frank remained optimistic. After receiving an LVAD in September of 2022, he enjoyed three vibrant years. Known for gifting $2 bills—his "lucky money"—Frank's kindness and joy touched all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella "Sally" Javier; children, Christopher (Crystal), Timothy (Rachel), and Marcella (Jonathan Burnette); grandchildren, Isabella, McKenna, Sophia, Clayton, Olivia, and Kaden; and nieces and nephews Chito, (Charisma), Jeffrey (Dawn), and Tito (Annalynn) Muñoz, and their children Samantha, Gabby, Alex, Parker, and Gemma.

The Javier family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Alaska Heart Institute, the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Providence Hospital's ICU/CSU, Palliative Medicine Fellowship, and the Child-Life Counselor from their Children's Hospital for their care and compassion throughout Frank's journey.
