Dennis "Denny" John Kelly passed away peacefully in Tucson, Ariz., on July 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Sept. 28, 1946. Dennis lived a full and an adventurous life rooted in curiosity, courage and kindness.

Dennis served in the U.S. Navy, an experience that first took him to Anchorage, Alaska – the place that captured his heart and sparked a lifelong love for flying, fishing, hunting and golf.

He earned his private pilot's license and spent over 30 years soaring through Alaska skies, embracing freedom of flight.

An avid outdoorsman and true explorer, Dennis traveled to more than 35 Countries around the world. Whether hunting, fishing, skiing, golfing or simply discovering new landscapes, he found joy in the beauty of nature and the thrill of the unknown. He had a zest for life that was contagious – always ready with a joke, a smile or a story that brought people together.

Dennis never met a stranger. His warmth and humor drew people in. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife, JoAn Kelly; sons, Colby R. Kelly (Amanda) and Cory H. Kelly (Ashley); stepsons, Michael S. Long and Matthew C. Long (Christine); and cherished grandchildren, Jack, Max, Claire, Oliver and Kit Kelly; Wesley Horen; Daniella, Ashlynn and Dillon Long. He is also survived by his siblings, M. Linda Koelling (Neal), R. Patrick Kelly (Carol), Michael Kelly (Robin), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan E. Kelly; and parents, Dolores Ann Kleinigger Kelly and Charles Jack Kelly. Dennis also shared a chapter of his life with his former wife, Dawn Kelly.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, love and laughter that will live on in all who knew him.
