Phillip Eide

Phillip Eide, age 79, passed away on June 21, 2025. Born on Dec. 31, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn., Phil lived a life defined by family, adventure, humor and generosity. The youngest of eight, he always had a close relationship with his siblings. He met his wife, Sheila, at the University of Minnesota. They married in 1968, and had three daughters: Heather (1970), Laura (1976) and Catherine (1979). Phil served in the Army and later attended law school. In 1974, the family headed north to Anchorage, Alaska, where Phil began his legal career. While raising their family, Phil and Sheila embraced their sense of adventure by exploring their new state. Phil enjoyed visiting and entertaining family and friends with stories and jokes. He also enjoyed travel, golf, reading, British mysteries, trivia and music - especially show tunes. He was active in his community by serving in the Kiwanis Club, refereeing youth soccer, playing percussion in several bands and performing as Santa Claus at holiday events. Phil was a loyal and faithful friend, brother, father and grandfather; loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thorlief and Margaret (Olsen) Eide; sisters, Peggy and Norma; and brother, Richard. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila; daughters, Heather (Marc), Laura and Catherine (John); grandchildren, Sarah, Mia, Nolan, Cameron, Julian and Maisie; brother, Paul; sisters, Ginny, Mary and Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington.
