Carolyn Hall

Jan 2, 1944 -

Feb 24, 2025

Carolyn Joyce Hall (Pendarvis), lovingly known as "Carol" and "Nana," joined her husband in heaven on Feb. 24, 2025. Born on Jan. 2, 1944, in Homestead, Fla., she was the eldest of five children, with one sister and four brothers. She was raised in Stuart, Fla., where she learned the values of love, resilience and devotion to family. In 1962, Carol met the love of her life, Lavaughn "Shorty" Hall. They married and began a life full of adventure. In 1964, shortly after the historic earthquake, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where they started their family and business, Artistic Construction. When they weren't working, Carol and Shorty found joy on the sea—spending time on their houseboat, Von's Playhouse, in Seward, Alaska. She loved the freedom of the open water and the peace it brought them. In the 1980s, Carol joined her best friend Judy as a travel agent. She spent several years helping others plan their dream vacations, including many for her children and grandchildren. Carol was the perfect blend of practical and aesthetic, yet a force to be reckoned with—a spitfire, a pillar of strength and the unwavering rock of her family. Her love knew no bounds, and her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures.

Whether for holidays, special occasions, or the annual summer barbecues, Carol took pride in cooking for friends and family. If asked, her family and close friends could name a favorite dish that Carol would make especially for them. Carol is survived by her daughters, Robin Ruttle, Joanna Hall and Jodi Hall; son, Timothy "Gene" Pittman; brother, Herbie; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love, laughter and unshakable spirit will forever remain in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
