James "Jim" David Swanson

James "Jim" David Swanson, 71, of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2025.

Born in Lake Forest, Illinois, Jim grew up in Highland Park where he joined Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669 in 1975. After marrying in 1977, he and wife Mikki planted roots in Alaska and started their family. He started his own company in 2003, and had a passion for hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret (Mikki) Kuhn Swanson; his son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Brandy Swanson; daughter, Keely (Swanson) Carr; daughter and son-in-law, Molly (Swanson) and Cody Cunningham; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kari Swanson; five adored grandchildren and many dear friends.
