Donna Lane Beals passed from this world on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in her home after a long illness.

She was attended in her last moments by her husband, Dr. Martin Beals; and her beloved daughter, Buffy Pitchford.

She is predeceased by her parents; brother, Braxton AKA "Sonny" Lane; and beloved son, Christopher.

Donna was born in New Bern, N.C., on Jan. 5, 1946, to Logan and Ollie Lane.

In addition to her daughter Buffy, she leaves behind her granddaughter, Alexandra; son-in-law, Robert; and oldest son, Mark. She also leaves her stepchildren: Christopher (Windy) with stepgrandchildren Jackson and Gracie and stepgreat-grandson, Chase; stepson. Anthony (Julie)and stepgranddaughter Ivy' and stepdaughter. Cheryl (Jack) and their children Jack and John. She also leaves two nieces: Sheri Knox and Lisa Koonce.

Donna had a full life with many twists. She started her work career at the local newspaper at age 13. Then she worked as a telephone operator and a lab technician. She eventually got a master's degree in emotional handicapped children and loved teaching her students in both Elizabeth City, N.C., and Anchorage, Alaska. She also served as her husband's office manager. She loved horses and her dogs; knitted booties and hats for her husband's newborn patients; and was very generous to a large number of charities. No services are planned per her wishes, but the family suggests people share their bounty with their favorite charities in her memory.
