Annemarie Weiland
Jan 15, 1968 -
Apr 24, 2025
Annemarie was born at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, on Jan. 15, 1968. She passed away on April 24, 2025, following a brief illness.
The oldest of nine, she grew up on the family farm which is nestled between Pioneer Peak and the Butte. This is where her love for horses began, and she spent her childhood riding and showing them. Her leadership skills became evident early on when she started her own 4-H horse club in the family basement when she was 12.
Anne graduated from Palmer High in 1986 and went on to earn her B.A. in psychology from UAA. She was full of adventure, and always ready to learn new skills or travel. Annemarie was an accomplished fly fisher, learning in Katmai National Park. She had a Class A CDL used to drive tour buses across Alaska - always providing a personal tour of the Weiland farm to her guests. She was a licensed massage therapist, owning Massage Alaska in downtown Palmer for several years. Anne was a white-water rafting guide and had her six-pack license. She held her private pilot's license and owned her own plane, a Citabria, which she used to explore Alaska's beauty. Anne's beautiful handsewn kuspuks speak to her love for Alaska Native culture and are worn across the state. She enjoyed sharing and teaching others her craft for sewing and quilting. Annemarie rose to the top of her field as a mortgage officer and many of her clients became her friends. If you knew Annemarie, you were her friend, and you'd understand. She was one-of-a-kind; a kick in the pants; an offensive driver; a mean queso maker. Annemarie will be missed.
Annemarie is survived by her parents, Terence and Teresa Weiland; sisters, Amy, Sarah, Alicia, Kerry; brothers, Andy and Nick; and many nieces and nephews. Annemarie is preceded in death by her sister, Paula; and brother, Terry Jr.
