Yukio "Joe" Kaneshiro

Jul 22, 1974 -

Nov 17, 2024

Yukio "Joe" Tunusaghhaq Kaneshiro was born July 22, 1974, in Fairbanks, Alaska, where Clyde and Vera became his parents and where he started his life's journey.

He had an adventurous spirit and expressed a love for family. He especially enjoyed being in Alaska and Hawaii - his mother's and father's birth places. He enjoyed the outdoors by snowboarding, riding the bore tide, fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles. These are among a list of many other interests. There were many challenges that he encountered along the way, some of which took him away from home and family, but we always knew he wanted to be himself.

He worked as a train engineer and artist using metal as his medium, making cutting boards. He also enjoyed the food business.

After many years, he returned home to live with his father and enjoyed the home life. But, his spirit of adventure and challenges never left him. The end of his journey was with his family and friends nearby.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vera; and survived by his father, Clyde; sister, Kristin; nephew, Aden; and niece, Auralia Oovi; and many other relatives in Hawaii and Alaska.
