Walter Thomas "Little Man" Stepanoff Jr.

Walter Thomas Stepanoff Jr. of Chignik Bay, Alaska, passed away peacefully in his home on Nov. 14, 2024. Walter was born on May 8, 1970, to Walter and Ann Stepanoff.

He was raised by his father in Chignik Bay, where he commercially fished and was active in school sports. Walter graduated from Chignik Bay High School in 1988, and purchased his commercial fishing boat, "The Miracle Girl," a few short years later.

Walter married the love of his life, Marlene Stepanoff, in 1998, and they lived a full and happy life together until Marlene lost her battle with cancer in November 2017.

Four years later, Walter fought his own battle with cancer. Walter was well-loved by family, friends and the community, and was known to many as "Little Man." He was a huge fan of the Boston Celtics and Dallas Cowboys and watched every game he could. Walter was a kind person that loved helping others. He loved animals and was a great cook. Walter had a loving heart and an infectious laugh that will be missed by all that knew him.

Preceding Walter in death are his wife, Marlene; his parents; and brother, Oscar. Walter Stepanoff was laid to rest next to his father and wife on Nov. 20, 2024, at 1 p.m.
