Oct 14, 2024

Ian Fenn was born on April 25, 2007 in Anchorage, Alaska and died on Oct. 14, 2024 in Anchorage, Alaska. Ian is of Navajo descent and was 17 years old. Ian was a senior at Service High School. He grew up surrounded by family, friends, and the nature of Alaska that fueled his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. Ian is survived by his sister, Anna Fenn; his mom, Sharon Fenn; his dad, David Fenn; his aunt, Anna King; and his dog, Rye. He was fortunate to be surrounded by the love of many family members including his maternal grandparents, Henry and Esther King from New Mexico, his paternal grandparents, Larry and Kay Stoll from Florida and Carl Fenn from Ohio.

Ian's passion for outdoor adventures inspired all who knew him. He loved skiing, mountain biking, cross country running, climbing, drawing, playing guitar, hiking peaks in the Chugach, especially late at night with friends and most of all, spending time with his family and friends and beloved furry buddy, Rye.

Ian was a caring and genuine soul with an extraordinary sense of humor and an innate ability to bring a smile to the faces of everyone he encountered. His kindness, generosity and thoughtful spirit endeared him to family, friends and strangers alike. Ian's spirited energy was contagious and he was seldom not surrounded by family or friends. Ian had a voracious appetite for life and his inquisitive and curious nature motivated him to seek answers to questions both innocent and profound. Ian was passionate and truly cared about everyone he encountered.

Kind. Sensitive. Focused. Driven. Smart. Conscientious. While the words that describe Ian are easy to come, capturing his incredible energy and spirit on paper is not without challenge. In the words of his sister, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
