On the afternoon of Sunday, June 16, 2024, Randy R. Carlson, son of Merle R. Carlson and Margaret B. Maxim, went home to be with the lord, at the age of 69. Randy was born in Tacoma, Wash. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1959, where he attended Service High School. Randy graduated in 1974. He moved to Wasilla, Alaska, in 1980, where he resided for 43 years. Randy went on to become a mechanic, working at Anchorage Chrysler for 30 years, and receiving much recognition for his automotive skills. On April 21, 2001, Randy married the love of his life, Torri Carlson. Torri was Randy's rock and constant source of strength throughout their marriage. Her unending love and support were evident in their daily lives and even during Randy's illness. When Randy wasn't working, he spent his time doing various hobbies such as watching NASCAR, attending and participating in car shows, four-wheeling and much more. Randy retired in 2016. He was a disciple of Christ and had an unwavering love for the Lord. Randy enjoyed many things in life, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending quality time with his family. Though Randy never did have children of his own, he treated his grandchildren as if they were his and did everything in his power to make sure that they always had smiles on their faces. Randy was also a thoughtful, loving and devoted husband.
Randy had a way of making each of us feel special, whether it was through his comforting words, his warm embrace or his gentle smile. Randy was quick to listen and slow to speak. He always knew the right words to say that would immediately put you at ease. Randy never failed to make you feel heard and understood. He lived a life filled with adventure, wisdom and boundless resilience. From the stories he shared of his youth to the lessons he imparted in his later years, Randy left an indelible mark on each of us. He taught us the value of hard work, integrity and, above all, the importance of God and family. Randy was truly one-of-a-kind, and he will truly be missed.
Randy is survived by his wife, Torri Carlson; stepchildren, James Lanum and Elise Walker; grandchildren, Jelise Walker and Cole Walker-Ilano; as well as his close friends and family.
