Gary Douglas Johnson, 77, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away on Feb. 3, 2024, with his daughters by his side.

Gary was born on March 24, 1946, in Amery, Wis., where he spent his formative years. He soon began working in the family business, Johnson's Fuel Service of Palmer, starting as a driver and eventually moving into management and ownership until it was sold in 1992.

Gary loved Alaska. He had a love for fishing and the outdoors with a passion for flying that led him to build two Supercub kit planes. He had long-lasting friends with whom he enjoyed sharing flying and fishing and hunting adventures.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Johnson and Jean Olson Karp. He is survived by his brother, Jeff; sister, Kim with husband Marcus and their children Maggie, Emilee and Jeremy of North Carolina; daughters, Kelly and Hallie; stepson, Chris; grandchildren, Morgan, McKenzie, Allen, Billy and Zoe; and great-grandchildren, Atlas, Adrian, Avalee and Abella.
