Deborah Karen Voves

Oct 1, 1954 -

Feb 5, 2024

Deborah was always proud to say she was born and raised in Anchorage , Alaska. She graduated from East High School in 1972, and went on to attend University of Alaska Anchorage here in town. Her early work experience included being employed by WGM. She always spoke fondly and with excitement about her helicopter trips into rural Alaska.

Deborah retired from UFCW Local #1496 in 2019, after working in the administrative offices for several years.

She had an enormous compassion for all animals. She owned horses for a number of years, along with several dogs and cats. She was a member of "Friends of Pets" for many years - acting as an adoptive foster home, prior to permanent placement, for no less than 30 dogs and puppies over that time.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Rigmore Barnes; along with her sister, Linda.

Survived by her husband of 38 years, Steve; sisters, Patti and Sandy; and siblings, Shauna, Tim and Robin.

Family members are planning a "Celebration of Life" later in summer 2024.
