Joshua Keith Zimmerman

Sep 10, 1990 -

Jan 12, 2024

Joshua Keith Zimmerman left his earthly family and joined his loved ones in heaven on Jan. 12, 2024. He was born on Sept. 10, 1990, and raised in Seward, Alaska. Josh graduated from Seward High School in 2009, then embarked on a fishing career. He was a natural-born fisherman and was comfortable baiting a hook or setting out a seine no matter what the weather. On land he loved riding or driving anything with at least one wheel, or snowmachining anywhere with enough snow, especially up to Lost Lake. He could keep in motion anything with a wheel or keel, or on skis with a track - all skills learned once he started walking.

When not fishing, Josh made time for the annual family moose hunt, snowmachining and working with his family's business; he also traveled in winters to warmer places. He was an accomplished handyman and carpenter, learning from his father and grandfather. Of strong build and stature, he could buck up, split and stack a cord of wood or two after lunch and be ready for dinner before dinner was done. His smile lit up the room and his laughter was contagious to anyone within earshot.

Josh leaves behind his parents, Philip and Alysse Zimmerman; sisters, Amanda and Alaina; brothers, Zane and Seth; aunt, Teresa; uncle, Perry (JoAnne); cousins, Curt, Kara, Eric, Jake and Marcie, their spouses and children; and his lifetime friends he grew up with. He was predeceased by his birth mother, Gerriann Tackett; grandparents, George and June Zimmerman; and uncle, Keith Zimmerman. Josh so loved his family as his family so loved him; he will forever be remembered and deeply missed. A celebration of life is planned for summer 2024.
