Ruby Dwyer, age 88, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023. She is survived by five children, Tom, Steve, Mark, Joe and Marie; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Michael.

Ruby was born in Paddington, England, and was the daughter of Ruby and James Crofton Johnston. She married Edward J. Dwyer in Uxbridge, Middlesex, England, in 1954. They remained devoted to each other until Edward's passing in 2009.

Ruby arrived in Alaska in 1970 as a military wife and mother of a large family. During the next 23 years she was a homemaker, worked for ARCA of Alaska and the U.S. Postal Service, until her retirement.

Ruby and Ed left Alaska in 1993, retiring to Canandaigua, N.Y., where they built their dream home, living out their remaining years in much happiness. Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be missed by all who knew her.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 North Main Street in Canandaigua.
