Willie K. Bolton passed away peacefully on Veteran's Day, Nov. 11, 2023, surrounded by family at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska, after a 4-year battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 10, 1959 in New Orleans, La. Willie was born to Roger William Bolton and Marcia Dale Bolton. The family returned to Anchorage, Alaska, shortly after. He graduated from Service High School in 1977, and pursued and accomplished an associate degree in electronics and later a degree in computer sciences. He worked for National Bank of Alaska, in the IT department, for many years and later GCI after NBA outsourced their IT to them. In 1989, he met his wife of 33 years, Sarah Gutzler. They welcomed two children, Chloe (formally Daniel) and Nancy, and the family was complete. They moved in 2001 to Lexington Park, Md., to be around and help Sarah's parents and family. He worked for Precise Systems Inc. for almost 20 years. He continued to work for them until his time of death. Willie and Sarah moved back to Homer in July 2021 to fulfill their dream of working toward retirement.
Willie is survived by his wife, Sarah Bolton of Homer; daughter, Chloe Bolton of Seattle, Wash,; daughter, Nancy Bolton (Ryan Gutzat) of Baltimore, Md.; mother, Marcia Bolton of Palmer, Alaska; sister, M. Louise Franklin (Biff) of Palmer; sister, Valeta Hitchcock (Blake) of Riverton, Utah; and many beloved nieces and nephews who he spent time with regularly. He is also survived by many cousins and many, many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger W. Bolton; brother, Thomas E. Bolton; and nephew, Michael B. Franklin. Formal services will not be held. Family and close friends will gather near the place he loved so much in Kachemak Bay in Homer and spread his ashes in summer 2024.
