(Robert) Keith Revelle, Jr.

Keith Revelle, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, died in Orangeburg, S.C., on Nov. 1, 2023, at home with friends. Keith was born in Woodland, Calif., on Dec. 20, 1942, to Robert Keith and Cleo Imogene Revelle. In 1960, he graduated with honors from Dixon, California High School where among other activities he managed the varsity football team. In 1964, Keith graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in history and a minor in Spanish. He spent 1965 in Paris, France at the Alliance Francoise de Paris. He graduated from Simmons College (now University), Boston, Mass. with a M.S. in Library Science, in 1966.

Keith began his professional career at the Latin American Library (Oakland, California Library system) until 1973 when he moved to Anchorage. He was named Municipal Librarian in 1977, serving in that position for 13 years, during which time he oversaw construction of the new Z.J. Loussac Library which opened in 1986.

Keith will be remembered for his quick wit and thirst for knowledge. He was an avid reader of literature in English, Spanish and French, particularly enjoying Marcel Proust's A la recherche du temps perdu which he read in the original at least once a year. He was a devotee of classical music and movies and loved to travel, especially to London, Paris, and Australia.

Keith is survived by his sister, Lisa Sweeney (Bernie); nieces, Meghan Metzger (Jerome) and Caitlin Sweeney Senna (Joe); grandnephew, Boris; and grandniece, Margot, all of Dixon, Calif. He was predeceased by his parents; his good friend Bob Books; and his beloved basset, Oscar.

His memorial service will be on Nov. 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at the Church of the Redeemer in Orangeburg, S.C.
