Robert Cramer

Dec 31, 1933 -

May 21, 2023

Robert "Bob" Wayne Cramer, 89, passed onto the next adventure at his home in Yachats, Ore., on May 21, 2023. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 31, 1933, to Merwyn and Louise Cramer. Bob grew up in Pasadena with three brothers and three sisters. He graduated from high school and entered the Coast Guard. After the Coast Guard, Bob married, moved to Oregon and obtained a bachelor's degree in forestry engineering at Oregon State University. He spent his weekends logging with wife, Barbara, as his assistant setting chokers and hauling trees. After graduation, Bob and family moved to Peoria, Ill., where he worked for Caterpillar Tractor selling equipment. This job set the stage for the next 13 years as an equipment salesman selling Caterpillar Equipment and living in Florida and Oregon. Bob then followed his ultimate dream and moved the family to Alaska, where he ran a bar/restaurant/inn - the Club Evergreen in Delta Junction. Bob relocated to Juneau and Anchorage, where he worked for the State of Alaska Department of Transportation. Wherever he lived, Bob was never very far from a fishing pole. When the winters started to get a bit too cold, Bob moved to California and drove a tour bus in Yosemite Park for a season before moving back to Oregon to watch the ocean waves from home in Yachats. He loved ice cream, taking pictures of the beautiful scenery, going on long drives and watching the hummingbirds in the yard.

Bob is survived by his partner, Diane Freeberg; brothers, Larry, Dick (Charlotte); sisters, Jean, Carolyn, Cathy; sister-in-law, Karen; daughters, Carol, Linda (John), Donna; grandchildren, Darryl (Shannon), Bryan (Leslie), Kirsten (Josh), Jennifer (Kyle), Katherine, Christopher, Rebecca; and five great -grandchildren. Predeceased by parents, Merwyn and Louise Cramer; and brother, Bill Cramer.

Cremation Arrangements were by Bateman Funeral Home, Oregon. Bob was laid to rest at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery with military honors on Sept. 26, 2023. Fish on, Bob!
