Aug 1, 2023
Claudia Jean Mushkin, 75, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away of natural causes in Maui, Hawaii, on Aug. 1, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.
Claudia was predeceased by her mother, Pauline Dawn Melby; father, Eugene Micheal Mushkin; and younger brother, Steven Eugene Mushkin of Mercer Island, Wash. She is survived by older brother, Micheal Eugene Mushkin and wife Kathy Adele Mushkin of Tulalip, Wash.; and younger brother, Timothy Eugene Mushkin and wife Kerry Margaret Mushkin of Bellingham, Wash.
Claudia graduated in 1966 from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, Wash., and worked as a flight attendant before developing a passion for computing. She went on to enjoy technical support careers with both Boeing Computer Services and later the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety, where she retired in 2007 as Network Support Manager for the Alaska State Troopers after 22 years of service. In addition to traveling with her good friend Nancy Johnson, Claudia also loved sewing, Japanese flower arranging, fishing, ice dancing and volunteering in the community as demonstrated by 30-plus years of service to the U.S. Figure Skating Committee as a figure skating judge and competition chairman. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Claudia also resided at Napili Point on Maui and requested her ashes be scattered off the point following family tradition. Due to wildfire devastation in West Maui, this will occur later in a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the Maui Strong Fund, https://www.hawaiicomunityfoundation.org/maui-strong.
