John Lydick

John Philip Lydick, a former resident of Pollock, La., passed away on Aug. 26, 2023, in Magnolia, Ark., at the age of 83. He was born on June 26, 1940, in Cordova, Alaska, to John V. Lydick Jr. and Barbara Cranson Lydick.

John served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 through 1962. Following his honorable discharge, he attended college after which he worked for several years with the U.S. General Accounting Office and a public accounting firm. He then attended law school, following which he worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Shreveport, La., and Dallas, Texas.

Following his retirement in 1994, John and his wife of 42 years, Audette LaCroix Lydick, enjoyed more than 10 years of travel in a recreational vehicle throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska before settling down in Pollock.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Audette; children, Jack W. Lydick and wife Jenny of Vancouver, Wash., and Karen J. "Kara" Campbell and husband Brian of Portland, Ore.; stepchildren, G. Samuel Bolen Jr. of Ball, and Anne M. Mattingly and husband Simon of Maineville, Ohio; grandchildren, John Valentine Lydick III, Nikk Elise Lydick, Alexa Campbell and Kaitlyn Olivia Mattingly; and sister, Theresa "Sue" Stover and husband Jim of Grand Junction, Colo.

Following his cremation, a "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held in Ball at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Highway, on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023. There will be a visitation starting at 2 p.m., and the service will begin at 3 p.m.

John will be buried in Anchorage, Alaska, beside his father at Angelus Memorial Park.
