Russell "Bud" Wood passed away on Aug. 23, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Bud was born in upstate New York on Sept. 20, 1937. His character was shaped by experiences from growing up on a farm.

Bud joined the Air Force at the age of 17. He worked as an aircraft maintenance supervisor and retired from the Air Force, as a Master Sergeant, after 23 years of service. He worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for 19 years, where he spent most of his time at Pump Station 4.

Bud fell in love with Alaska when he was stationed at Elmendorf Airforce Base from 1968 to 1970. He returned for his final tour of duty in 1975, and remained in Alaska until his passing.

Bud loved fishing and Ford vehicles. He enjoyed sharing stories and reliving memories of fishing trips, and the vehicles he owned. While these were his passions, he loved nothing more than his family.

Bud is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; three children, Bill Wood, Jim Wood and Kathy Brownlee; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
