William "Bill" Towns of Wasilla, Alaska, "jumped the fence; that wild horse is off to greener pastures in the sky" with family at his side.
He was born in Glade Park, Colo., to Jeremiah "Jerry" Towns and Margaret Hatfield Towns on Dec. 11, 1931. Bill joined the U.S. Army in 1949, and was discharged in 1951. Bill met the love of his life, Helen Williams, and they were married on May 2, 1953, in Carson City, Nev. Bill and Helen lived in California from 1959-1972, then traveled to Alaska in 1972, with their youngest son Calvin, and remained until 1992. He owned his own business Bell Auto Body, and was employed by Los Angeles County, Anchorage Chrysler, Alaska Sales & Service and Consolidated Body Works as an autobody repairman. After retirement their travels took them to Oroville, Calif. They also visited Russia, Germany, Ireland, England, Canada, and Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen, in 2011; sisters, Joyce, Josephine, Gladys and Vera; and brothers, Clifford and Richard.
