Longtime Big Lake, Alaska, resident Mari Christine Chamberlain, 64, died on July 6, 2023, while staying at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska.

A burial is to take place at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Chamberlain was born on Dec. 22, 1958, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to John and Christine Epling. She graduated with a master's degree in piano performance from University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. She married Peter Chamberlain on March 2, 1985, in Brazos County, Texas.

She and her family came to Alaska in March 1995, where she put down roots and made the rugged state a home for her husband and children.

She was a devout, God-fearing Christian woman who loved and walked with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all her life.

Her passion was homeschooling her children and managing her home, which included berry foraging and canning, gardening and ice fishing. She also enjoyed hiking, camping, kayaking, cross-country skiing and chatting with everyone she met.

She was an accomplished equestrian in her younger years, showing horses in both Western and English styles.

She is survived by her husband, Peter; two sisters, Zane and Kathleen; four sons and one daughter-in-law, three daughters and two sons-in-law and seven grandchildren: Andrew Chamberlain of San Francisco, Calif., with two children; Olivia and Victor Babinov of Inman, S.C., with two children; Baruch and Libby Chamberlain of Bend, Ore., with two children; Ahnie and Daniel Fox of Whitehall, Mich.; David Chamberlain of Anchorage; Sarah Loncle of Parker, Colo., with one child; and Gunnar Loncle of Grand Junction, Colo.

Mrs. Chamberlain was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes Kehl's Chapel.
