Connie left us after a long battle with cancer. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 5, 2023. Connie was born in Anchorage Alaska, on Jan. 1, 1957, to Paul and Katie (Fergusen) Gundersen. She started out as a celebrity by being the first baby born in the state of Alaska that year.

She grew up in Pauloff Harbor on Sanak Island, Alaska. Her family moved after the death of her mother, settling in Sand Point, Alaska, where she married the love of her life Richard Kochuten. They were a match made in heaven; their love and devotion were unparallel. They spent 48 years together raising four strong men. She became a grandmother to 13 grandchildren, loving every one of them and creating lasting memories for all for years to come. When Connie was not working at the Peter Pan Office, she liked to spend time with her husband and friends. She enjoyed spending time on the water in a skiff with her husband, often exploring the islands. She also liked to spend time baking and cooking. Her favorite season was summer, especially when the berries were ready to pick. To say Connie was an amazing baker and cook was an understatement. All who entered her kitchen was blessed with the love she poured into her cooking. She loved and cared for all whom came into her life. She was kind soft spoken compassionate dedicated and above all a loving woman.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Sand Point Church on July 22, 2023, at 3 p.m. officiated by Joshua Kochuten.
