Agafon Krukoff Jr. passed from complications after a brave and courageous fight with cancer.

Agafon was born on St. Paul Island, to Agafon Krukoff Sr. and Haretina Krukoff, one month after returning from Funter Bay, Alaska, following the Aleut Evacuation of World War II. Raised by his great-grandfather, John "Tata" Misikin, Agafon studied at Cleveland High (Seattle), Mt. Edgecumbe, UAF, AMU and Sheldon Jackson. He met the love of his life Diane Shane at St. Paul in summer 1968.

Music was a passion for Agafon, playing electric songs like "Sleepwalk" and "Mustang Sally" to packed halls. While in Los Angeles, he wrote a letter to Diane, who was attending school, "I'm going to go home and wait for you."

Mentors helped guide him towards service to the Unangun people.

Agafon worked to incorporate St. Paul as a second-class city. Agafon would serve on City Council as first City Manager and head the board of Directors of the new Tanadgusix Corporation. Agafon advocated for a Pribilof School District, and served as Board President.

In 1979, Agafon would be asked to serve temporarily as Aleut Corporation President. At 10 years, Agafon became the longest serving President for the Corporation by election. Agafon would successfully testify to Congress for acquiring land and fiscal deals; for better control over the Aleutian Islands sealife; and reparations for the Aleut people, while receiving an apology from President Reagan over the WWII evacuation. Agafon was proud to safely lead Aleut Corp through the real estate crash in the 1980s.

Agafon helped build Aleut Plaza, St. Paul Harbor, Paramount Hotel (Seattle) and St. Innocent Cathedral.

Agafon became senior Vice President for TDX, President for CBFSA and the first Mayor of Adak. Agafon would also run the Adak Post Office with his wife Diane for 15 years. Agafon enjoyed serving recently on the TDX Board, and recorded music this year to be released in the near future.

Agafon was a man of the people, a champion for the Pribilofs and all Aleuts. He enjoyed a good cheeseburger and fries, and strawberry ice cream. He loved his family and would do anything for them. Faith was very important to Agafon.

Agafon is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Diane; daughter, Olga and her sons, William Krukoff and Ryan Krukoff; daughter, Sharon Bourudkofsky, her husband Gene and their daughter, Chloe; and son, Jonathan Krukoff and his wife Tami; along with many family and friends.

Funeral arrangements are with Evergreen Memorial.
