Carol Lucile Grant Carey died, at age 90, at Aspen Creek Senior Living on June 13, 2023, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born in Peoria, but was raised in Havana, Ill. Carol graduated with a bachelor degree from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Carol and her husband, Omer, raised five children: Gayle Nauska, Craig Carey, Cale Carey (deceased), Bryan Carey (Bronwen Wang) and Grant Carey. She had grandchildren, Clyde (Kyndall) and Brianne; and great-grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Burton Grant; son, Dale Carey; and husband, Omer Carey.

Carol enjoyed radio classical music and substitute teaching in Anchorage Special Education classes. She spent many hours rewriting the Alaska Driver's Manual to an easier reading level.
