LaVerne Robert Lapp, 86, passed away at home in Eagle River, Alaska, surrounded by his loved ones on May 5, 2023.
He was born to parents William Valentine Lapp and Hazel Krier Lapp in Rio, Wis., on July 31, 1936.
He served as a Panama Canal guard for the United States military in 1955. LaVerne owned and operated Tudor Auto & Truck Repair, which he opened in 2005. LaVerne was a loving and very understanding husband. He loved all of his family, friends and customers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rolanda (Lorna) Lapp of Eagle River; brothers, Don Lapp of Minnesota, Jerry Lapp of Wisconsin, and Jim Lapp of Sandy, Utah; sister, Nancy Seltenreich of Willow, Alaska; brother-in-law, Steve Childs of Meadow Lakes, Alaska; sisters-in-law, Karen Lapp of Minnesota, Verna Lapp of Sandy, and Sylvia Childs of Meadow Lakes; children, Lynn Willis of California, Joe Lapp of California, and Kathy Murphy of Texas; grandson, Matthew Willis of California; great-granddaughter, Samantha Willis of California; and nephews, Michael Childs and David Childs, both of Meadow Lakes.
There will be a service held on May 17, 2023, beginning at 12 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage, Alaska. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. Officiated by Father Vince Blanco. Pallbearers: Steve Childs, David Childs, Michael Childs, Rolly Dimapiles, Matthew Cottle and Timmy Xiavong.
