Announcing the passing of our beloved mother/grandmother, Priscilla Ancheta, "Lola," on April 29, 2023, in Anchorage, Alaska.
Priscilla was born on Jan. 4, 1935, in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines. After moving to Ketchikan, Alaska, she worked as a bookkeeper for the local timber industry and was a homemaker for her children. Her most cherished role was being Lola to her grandchildren. For the last few years she lived with her daughter Pearl in Anchorage, but it was her wish to be laid to rest in Ketchikan. Priscilla enjoyed traveling, watching Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, attending mass regularly and spending time with her grandchildren.
Throughout her life she dedicated herself to her family and her dear friends. She was a devoted wife to Presco T. Ancheta Sr. for 34 years, until he died in 1993. She was an undeniably faithful Catholic and an active member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Ketchikan. She was a longtime member of The Filipino Community Club of Ketchikan since moving to the city with Presco Sr. in 1959.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her husband Presco Ancheta Sr. She is survived by her children, Pearl Tatum (Alex), Presco Jr., Pamela Ancheta (David Kring) Percival, and Paul (Silvia Ancheta); grandchildren, Cherise, Claire, Joenathan, Cicely, Jordan, Jareth, Jacob, James, Charly, Nicole and Joseph; and 12 great-grandchildren. Priscilla has a multitude of extended family in the Philippines, California, Texas, and New York.
In lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts, a fundraiser is set up to help Lola's family offset costs incurred due to the casket flight from Anchorage to Ketchikan, https://gofund.me/4e417814.
Services will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church in Ketchikan, at 12:10 p.m., followed by a graveside burial, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
