Judith Lynette Frank

Jun 18, 1949 -

Nov 1, 2022

Judith Lynette Frank passed away on Nov. 1, 2022, in Sun City West, Ariz. - her favorite day of the year Dia del Muertos - with her wife Karen Tiemeyer at her side.

Judith was born on June 18, 1949, in Lincoln, Neb. Judith's mother Annefather Phil, and family moved often due to Judith's father being in the U.S. Navy. Judith developed ways of finding friends and building community wherever she lived. Judith joined the Army and moved to Alaska in the 1980s and spent 34 years there, where she worked for the Municipality of Anchorage and State of Alaska as a correctional officer.

Judith retired in 2010, and moved to Indianola, Wash., where Judith became an accomplished artist creating stained glass and other artwork

Judith served as editor of the Indianola Breeze, commissioner of the Port of Indianola and was active in many community events. Judith created many beautiful works of art during her time in Indianola, but her pride and joy was the beautiful wooden Dory sailing boat she built with her dear friend Lee.

In 2014, Judith and Karen moved to Sun City West, and enjoyed new adventures in the desert and new community connections. Both visited Alaska most summers to connect with old friends.

Judith had long lasting friendships in Alaska and Washington and touched many lives wherever she lived. This was made evident after she was diagnosed with a rare cancer in June 2022. Many of those friends came from near and far to help during her treatment and in her last days on this earth. It was truly a testament to Judith's gift of connection with those who were lucky to know her. We all knew Judith would do the same for a friend in need, as she did so many times.

Judith is survived by her wife, Karen Tiemeyer; brothers, Arthur Frank of New Jersey, and Phillip Frank of Nevada; and cousin, Marilyn Wasson of Washington. Judith is also mourned by many close friends and neighbors from Alaska, Washington, Arizona, and all around the Lower 48 who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Judith's life will be held at the IBIC Community Hall/Indianola Road in Indianola, on Aug. 26, 2023, at 3:30 p.m.
