Mar 1, 2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Lois Ann Beyer on March 1, 2023.

She was born Lois Ann Webb on July 19, 1935, in Dayton, Ohio, and earned her degree in science of food and nutrition from the University of Dayton. She met Marvin Beyer on a blind date and married in 1956. They welcomed their first child, Cindy, in 1957, followed by Susan in 1958. They moved to Alaska in 1962, driving the Alcan with an airstream trailer in tow. Son Tim was born in 1963, and he enjoyed rocking in a chair during the great '64 earthquake. The rest of the family was not so happy with the devastation caused by that quake. They welcomed Tara in 1965, and the family was complete. Lois was a Girl Scout leader and eventually was on the board of directors. She worked local, state and national elections, greeting her neighbors each year. She enjoyed her faith in God, attending services and events that added to her sweet and gentle way. She crafted her own Christmas cards, which she sent each year to her eager family and friends. She was known for her baking and cooking, with many friends of her kids stopping by after school for her yummy cookies.

She enjoyed traveling especially to Sanibel Island in Florida for the annual family reunion. Road trips around Alaska were a treat and she packed a great picnic lunch. She tended to a garden every year, growing strawberries, various vegetables and beautiful flowers. The family gathered weekly for a Sunday brunch, a tradition for many years that gave her comfort with the growing family. She continued to serve God by working within the church leading groups and volunteering for events. She loved to write letters and equally enjoyed receiving them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Beyer; and daughter, Susan. She is survived by daughter, Cindy Albanil (Jose); son, Tim Beyer (Robin); daughter, Tara Heafer; grandchildren, Jesse, Willie, Michelle, Julianne, Sherilyn (Tom), Amanda (Corbett), Holly, Hayley and Hunter; plus great-grandchildren, Arianna, Reina, Joey, Brayden, Delylah, Ariel and AJ.

The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 3 p.m.
