Cynthia Joy Becker

Oct 10, 1956 -

Jan 17, 2023

Cynthia Joy Becker (Myers) passed peacefully in her Anchorage, Alaska, home on Jan. 17, 2023. She was born on Oct. 10, 1956, to the late Hal and Roberta Myers at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. Cynthia lived in Fairbanks, Alaska, from 6 months old until she moved to Anchorage, where she married her best friend Rock Becker on Aug. 3, 1978.

She attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Anchorage from 1976-1983. She was a remarkable accountant, holding many high-ranking positions throughout her 40-year career. Her first 20 years were with Enstar Natural Gas holding different roles and leaving as Manager of General Accounting. She was also VP of Finance at Credit Union 1, Financial Services Controller at ASRC and Koniag Inc., then retiring in 2018 from Municipality of Anchorage as Payroll Director.

Cynthia enjoyed halibut fishing and clam digging out of Deep Creek, the 20-mile river, sitting on her back deck in the warm summer sun, visiting Maui, Hawaii, and spending time with family and friends. She was a "Team Mom" and always in the front row of her daughters' sports and activities so they could hear her cheers. She was tenacious, smart, hardworking, loving and always willing to help anyone who asked. She was a kind soul and will be dearly missed by all.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Rock; daughters, Jeannine and Christina Becker; granddaughter, Payton Baker; sisters, Connie Gallamore (Gordon) and Dee Horbuckle; and brothers, David and Chris Hughes. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Denise Solien and Cathy Steiner; and her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., on May 21, 2023, at Bayshore Clubhouse in Anchorage.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alaska Police & Fire Chaplains, P.O. Box 200654, Anchorage, AK 99520; alaskachaplain.org.
