Harold Wilfred Green Jr.

Nov 28, 1951 -

Aug 21, 2022

Born to Harold Wilfred Green Sr. and Margaret Louise Evans Green in New York, N.Y., his Alaska residency began six weeks after his birth, his early years going to Clark Middle School and one of the first to graduate from East High School. After graduation, he attended two years of undergraduate studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He then moved to Chicago, Ill., where he attended and received his bachelor's in economics from the University of Chicago Illinois. He graduated with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and was offered a scholarship to continue graduate studies in economics, but his mother Margaret convinced him to attend law school instead. He then pursued his Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School, Chicago, where he graduated among the top of his class. At graduation he received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for significant legal scholarship, and the Hornbook Award for outstanding scholastic achievement. He started his career trading futures, selling real estate, learning how to become a great negotiator, and making lifelong friends along the way. He moved back to Alaska, where he started Alaska Green Law Offices specializing in criminal and family law, married and had three children.

He was an active member in the community: a donor to local softball and baseball clubs, a member and regular participant in the Minneapolis Grain Exchange and a continuous member and former president of the Alaska Farmers Union. He enjoyed golfing, investing and traveling the world. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, and loved growing peonies. Those that he left behind will always remember him for his sharp mind, humor and for being an endlessly driven individual. They will remember fondly the many adventures they experienced with him and heard about from him. His brave and unwavering fight despite all the terrible obstacles that pancreatic cancer brought upon him is an incredible testament to his character and will forever be an inspiration for all his family and friends.

He joins his parents and his younger sister in the afterlife. He is survived by his first son, Justin; daughter, Jennifer; second son, Aaron; older sister, Katherine; younger brother, Craig; four grandchildren; two stepchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and loving girlfriend.

A public viewing will be held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage, Alaska, at 1 p.m., on Sept. 6, 2022, followed by a burial at Angeles Memorial Park at 3 p.m. In lieu of gifts/flowers, contributions to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research in honor of Harold would be appreciated.
