Cynthia Michele "Cindy" Liming Strous, beloved daughter and mother, died at ICU at Joint-Base Elmendorf Richardson Hospital on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the age of 62, after a long illness. Our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses who gave her the best available care in her shortened life. She lived a beautiful and full life and touched the lives of everyone she met with truth and love and her laughter.
Cindy was born on Dec. 15, 1959, in Boston, Mass. She grew up in Marblehead, Mass., and graduated from Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Mass. Cindy joined the Navy and served on the USS Emory S. Land (AS-39). She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, a few years ago and was a member of the American Legion Post 29, Muldoon in Anchorage. She won six medals in the Senior Games in the fall of 2021. She was a Space Cadet 1st Class. She loved everything about space and was working on a diamond bead artwork "Moon Phases" at the time of her death. Her hobbies included horseback riding, sailing, motorcycles, swimming, painting and diamond bead artwork.
Cindy is survived by her loving mother, Linda Neilson of Hinsdale, N.H.; sons, Robert Behounek of Denver, Colo., and William Silvio of Sandwich, Mass.; and half-sister, Karen Emmith of Byfield, Mass.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 28, 2022, at 2 p.m., at the American Legion Post 29 in Anchorage. Service will also be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro, Vt., at a later date. She is loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
