Aug 3, 2022

With deep regret and much sadness, we announce the passing of Dennis M. Anderson, 80, of Wasilla, Alaska. Dennis passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022.

Dennis was born in Felton, Minn., in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960–1963, stationed in Dachau, Germany. In 1964, he moved to Alaska to pursue his passion of flying. In the early 1970s, he began his career as a Bush pilot. Soon after, he hired on with Wien Air Alaska, working his way up to 737 Captain. After Wien ceased operation, Dennis did a short stint flying overseas in Ireland and England, eventually retiring from DHL Airlines in 2009.

Dennis was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed flying his C180 all over the state of Alaska. He loved spending time at his One Stone Lake Cabin. Dennis's passions were flying, fishing, hunting and all activities that Alaska had to offer. He was an ambitious man, a driving force that would help anyone he could in any way possible. You could always rely on him.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth; brother, Leon Anderson (Nebraska); sister. Jeanette (George) Carlson of Minnesota; children, Ronald (Debra) Anderson of Wisconsin, Justine (Russell) Hernandez of Idaho, and Dennis (Beatriz) Anderson of Arizona; stepchildren, Ron (Christine) Meehan of Kenai, Alaska, Cynthia (Scott) Meehan of Anchorage, Alaska, and Elizabeth (Bob) Meehan of Palmer, Alaska; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Marvin and Clara Anderson; brother, Merlin; and sister, Sondra Anderson.

Per the family's request, no service will be held at this time, but a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Follicular Lymphoma Foundation in Dennis's honor.
