Joan "Norma" Katelnikoff, 66, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed from this life on Aug. 21, 2021, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage from complications of lung cancer. She was attended by her daughter, Natalia Carlson; and brother, Rick Katelnikoff.
Norma was born on March 12, 1955, to Nick and Polly (Shanagan) Katelnikoff in Ouzinkie, Alaska.
She was raised in Ouzinkie and Kodiak and attended Kodiak High School. She welcomed the birth of her daughter, Natalia, with her former spouse, John Weldon Carlson, in Seattle, Wash., in 1976. Shortly afterwards, Norma settled with her family in Anchorage, where she worked as a housekeeper, bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a wonderful wife, mother and sister, who dedicated her life to her family. In 2014, she married the love of her life, Warren "Vern" Anderson.
She was an avid reader, strong believer in the Lord and regular bingo player.
At the time of her passing, she was survived by her daughter, Natalia Joan Carlson and son-in-law Derrick Todd Yazzie; stepdaughter, Brittany Louise Anderson; stepson, Warren Lawrence Anderson and stepdaughter-in-law Lydia Anderson; grandchildren, Morgan Scout Yazzie and Xander Reed Yazzie; sister, Viola Johnson; brothers, Nick Katelnikoff Jr., Robert Katelnikoff, Norman Katelnikoff and Rick Katelnikoff; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren LaVern Anderson; former husband, John Weldon Carlson; and siblings, Glenda Katelnikoff, George Katelnikoff, Allen Katelnikoff, Jeannice Katelnikoff, Charlene Katelnikoff and Shirley Katelnikoff.
A public gravesite service will be held on Aug. 9, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, 535 E 9th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501.
