Kristie Burns

A resident of Big Lake, Alaska, since 2016, Kristie Burns, 38, passed away on June 24, 2022, while at Mat-Su Regional Hospital.

A service will be held on July 7, 2022, at Faith Bible Fellowship, 14225 West Kluane Drive, Big Lake, AK 99652, at 2 p.m., and a burial will take place afterwards at 4 p.m., at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery, 901 East Arctic Avenue, Palmer, AK 99654.

Mrs. Burns was born on Feb. 23, 1984, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Kurt and Roberta Kleinow, and sister to Katie Reed and Tyler Kleinow. She graduated valedictorian from Richwoods High School in Peoria, Ill. While studying at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., she met her husband, Evan Burns. They married on Jan. 14, 2006, and had twin sons Elijah and Isaiah on Sept. 23, 2009.

Mrs. Burns served with her husband and sons as missionaries in the Middle East, East Asia, Alaska, and Southeast Asia. When she was not in Alaska, she called Southeast Asia home. She was known for her contagious laughter, people-centered kindness, inquisitive mind and tenacious devotion to living her life to the hilt for the eternal good of others and the glory of God.

She is survived by her husband; two sons; father and mother; and brother and sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Faith Bible Fellowship, 14225 West Kluane Drive, Big Lake, AK 99652.
