Anchorage, Alaska, resident Mrs. Ginger L. Hubbard, 63, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Alaska Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
Military honors will be rendered at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery, on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 1 p.m.
Ginger was born on Nov. 1, 1958, in Santa Ana, Calif., and lovingly welcomed into the family of Ray and Loretta Miller. Ginger graduated from Hermiston High School in Hermiston, Ore., in 1976. Shortly after graduating, she joined the ranks of the U.S. Army as a satellite and microwave system operator, serving stateside and overseas till her enlistment ended in April 1988. In 1990, Ginger made the move north to Alaska, putting down roots in Anchorage and obtaining a position with the VA as a benefits manager until her retirement in 2016.
In the course of her life, Ginger was never one to sit still, she was always out doing something, whether it be at a gathering to watch her favorite sports team, out camping and enjoying the bliss that Alaska had to offer, or she could be found volunteering at her local veteran organizations. Ginger was at one time the president of the VFW Auxiliary, its Junior and Senior Vice and Volunteer bartender, but mostly she loved being with her family.
Ginger is preceded in death by her brother, William King; and grandmother, Louise Mills.
Mrs. Hubbard is survived by husband, Steve Hubbard of Anchorage; mother, Loretta Miller (Ray) of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Susan King of Portsmouth, Iowa; brother, Mark King of Tucson; daughter, Amanda Tuisamatatele (Kentrel) of Forney, Texas; stepdaughters, Angela Hubbard-Gray of Big Rapids, Mich., Heather Hubbard of New York, N.Y., Holly Hubbard of Anchorage; stepsons, James Hubbard of Anchorage, and Steve Hubbard II of Everett, Wash.; grandsons, Malaikae and Manoah Tuisamataele Felise of Forney; nephew, Johnny Chavez of Boise, Idaho; niece, Hannah Shackelford of Portsmouth; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
