Bruce William Johnson

May 25, 2022

Bruce William Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Anchorage on May 25, 2022. Bruce was a graduate of Orr High School in Orr, Minn. He is predeceased by his father, William Johnson; mother, Caroline P. Johnson (Nelson); and sister, Audrey Jean Johnson. He is survived by four sisters, Linda C. Gustafson (Jeff), Diane I. Hysler, Marjory J. Wood and May Ann Williams (Bruce); and several nieces and nephews.

In 1973, at the age of 23, Bruce transplanted himself to Alaska. He was captivated by the ocean shores, wilderness, mountains, wild game and fishing. From a young age Bruce spent time hunting, fishing and learning to cultivate and harvest our family garden with our father. In Anchorage, Bruce was a sought-after specialist in the maintenance and repair of recreational vehicles. His skill with the Snap-On tools he expertly wielded was legendary. RV owners specifically asked that Bruce be the specialist who worked on their vehicle.

Bruce was a skilled hunter and fisherman fueled by respect for the game and gratitude for the food provided. The beauty of the wilderness and the challenges he faced when out in the wild hunting or fishing were food for his soul.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 4 p.m., at Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook, Minn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
