Scott A. Sunderland, 55, of Palmer, Alaska, died on June 7, 2022.
Mr. Sunderland was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Oct. 30, 1966. He attended Palmer High School and graduated from Service High School.
Scott worked multiple trades and within multiple unions, including iron workers, laborers and carpenters. Scott excelled through the Carpenters Union and was a dedicated Journeyman Carpenter through the majority of his career.
Scott enjoyed hockey through high school, riding horses on the ranch, mining with his dad Wick and any and all motorized vehicles he could run through the mud. Later in life, riding his Harley was his passion.
Scott was a big personality; just as charismatic and charming as they come. He had a huge heart and a strong sense of protection for the underdog. His sense of humor was legendary. Scott could tell a story and have you rolling in belly laughs. He had a true zeal for life that was contagious. Scott lived and worked all over the state of Alaska. He had many friends and connections from all walks of life. He never met a stranger.
Through this life Scott had his struggles, but he never wavered in his love for his family. We all knew he loved each one of us.
Scott is survived by his parents, Wick and Candy Sunderland of Palmer; brother, Sloan Sunderland and his spouse Katie Sunderland of Palmer; sister, Shelly Smith of Anchorage; daughter, Elexie Moore and her spouse Luke Moore of Wasilla, Alaska; son, James Sunderland of Arizona; loving partner, Lucille Stickman of Palmer; and her daughter, Jarynn Cunningham (Jake). Scott also had six grandkids, five nieces and nephews and many family members in the Valley and Anchorage.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor on June 12, 2022, at 3 p.m., at Real Life Church, 10697 East Palmer-Wasilla Highway, Palmer, AK 99645.
