Daniel W. Fawcett

May 7, 1969 -

Mar 6, 2020

Devoted husband, loving father, family man and business partner, Dan Fawcett passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on March 6, 2020.

Dan was born in Butte, Mt., on May 7, 1969, to Robert and Sherry Fawcett and was raised by his paternal grandparents Conrad and Esther Fawcett. He attended local schools, graduating from Butte High School in 1987. While at Butte High he ran track, played tennis, and was an important part of one of the most competitive basketball teams from Butte.

Dan attended Eastern Oregon State College and had a job on the side cleaning the "bellies" of planes, eventually earning his private pilot's license (single engine), multi engine license and flight instructor license. He had many adventures and wild stories to share flying throughout Oregon, Montana, California and Colorado.

He went on to graduate from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and headed north to Alaska for a job opportunity with Johnson Controls. He planned on staying for only 5 years, but fell in love with the beauty and openness that Alaska had to offer. Dan quickly developed an affinity for Alaskan fly-fishing and could be found avidly fishing the Kenai almost every month.

On Aug. 17, 1998, Dan married his high school sweetheart Jenny (Salazar) Fawcett in their favorite setting on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii.

After a few years with Johnson Controls, Dan went on to work in various management roles at Siemens Building Technologies. In 2001, Dan and business partner Dave Rand started ATS Alaska and ATS Facility Systems that has since grown to have operations and offices throughout Alaska and the Northwest. It was also during those years that Dan became licensed as both a Professional Mechanical Engineer and a Professional Fire Protection Engineer.

In 2006, Dan and Jenny welcomed into the world a son, Conrad, followed by a daughter, Nora in 2011. Dan's life revolved around his wife and children with untold hours supporting the efforts of his family. He learned to play the violin with Conrad, volunteered in both children's classrooms, coached their YMCA basketball teams, proudly videotaped all violin and piano recitals and cheered them on at all their swim meets. Being a father was truly his passion and his children were always his number one priority. He always said he didn't want to be a "good" dad, he wanted to be a "great" dad, and he definitely was in spades. He loved his family more than anything and would sacrifice everything to spend time with them and help them attain their goals.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Conrad and Esther Fawcett; father, Robert Fawcett; and grandparents, Roy and June Manley.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jenny; children, Conrad and Nora; brothers, John (Vicky) and Dave (Cindy); nieces, Kellie and Abby Fawcett; mother-in-law, Virginia Salazar; brothers-in-law, Mike (Lou) Salazar, Tony (Leah) Salazar and Max (Melissa) Salazar; sisters-in-law, Tracey Michaelis, Terry Salazar, Pam (Randy) O'Leary, Peggy (Bernie) Boyle, Patty Salazar, Kerry (Greg) O'Leary, Kelly (Chris) Ward and Jackie (Tom) Kingston; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dan's generosity, kindness and love will always be a lasting image in our hearts.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held at a later date.
