Lynn William "Bill" Childs

Lynn William Childs was born in New London, Ct., on Dec. 9, 1931, to Ernestine and Lynn William Childs Sr. With his father in the Navy they lived many places, beginning with the canal zone in Panama and lastly in Van Nuys, Calif. As a child, Bill enjoyed bike riding, model building, fishing and camping. He enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. While training for his Land Surveyor Certification he met Patricia Gore and they were married in 1953. They were stationed in Panama until his honorable discharge in 1954. The couple settled in Van Nuys, and Bill continued with his studies at UCLA, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1957 with a B.A. in Business Administration. Bill and Pat had two children: Jeffrey and Susan. His career began with a position at Haskins and Sells and moved up through business management positions with three national and international companies located in southern California until 1973, when the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he became the general manager for the Aleut Corporation. After many years of marriage, Bill and Pat divorced. He established his CPA and consulting practice until his retirement in 1992. During this time he acquired an interest in the Anchorage International Inn with the Tanadgusix Corporation.

In 1992, Bill and Joyce Kretchmer married and enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the U.S., as well as to many other countries. In 2014, they moved to a retirement village in Medford, Ore., and then to Spokane, Wash., in 2018.

Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Robert in 1989; and his son, Jeffrey in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Sonia; niece, Cara; daughter, Sue (Rocky) Ferrozzo of Spokane; grandchildren, Dillon Ziemer, Renee Ziemer (great-grandsons, Grant and Benjamin), Jordan Ziemer of Spokane; granddaughter, Kristina of Anchorage; and also many bonus grands and great-grands.

There will be no service. Please refer to the online memorial. Bill will be interred in Anchorage at a later date.
