Obituary

Maurice Hamby

Nov 6, 1953 -

Jan 2, 2022

Maurice was born in Mt. Edgecumbe and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska; he spent most of his life in Anchorage, Alaska. He spent the majority of his years there working in the food industry, with his last stint working at Carr's /Safeway as a manager of the seafood department. He had his own video store and sold athletic collectable cards, and you can't forget his music. He always had his guitar with him. His first band was "Tom Stack Trio," where he was playing bass at age 14. He would get up in the middle of the night when he was thinking and writing music!

He was survived by his twin sister, Doris and brother-in-law Steve Markuson of Tahuya, Wash.; sister, Bobbi J. Erickson of Tahuya; two nephews; two nieces; three great-nephews; plus several friends in Anchorage and Ketchikan.

He is now with his mom, "Pat"; and dad, "Bob" Hamby. May he rest in peace! Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!

A "Celebration of Life" will be held on May 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. Potluck style, all are welcome! Email Tammy Fairbanks for directions at fairbanks.t86@gmail.com.
