May 17, 2022
Nancy Dee Felton, age 91, died in Anchorage, Alaska, on May 17, 2022. Nancy was born in Wales, Alaska, on Dec. 10, 1930, to Helen and Willie Senungetuk, the oldest of four siblings: Ron Senungetuk (Turid), Stanley "Skip" Senungetuk (Edna), Joe Senungetuk (Martha) and Cora Olson (Larry). Nancy loved telling stories of her childhood in Wales, like how strong she got from carrying water with her brother Ron, and how she would get up early to make hotcakes, and would play outdoors in the rocks, hills and beach that surrounded the community. Nancy and the family eventually moved to Nome, Alaska. Nancy had three children: Cathie Maki (Don), James Whitaker II (Angie) and Cynthia Williams (Brian). She married the love of her life, Willard Felton, in 1965. Nancy lived with Willard on Tobuk Alley in Nome until they sold their house and moved to Anchorage for medical reasons. While in Nome, Nancy was very active with the Methodist church and assisted with translating hymns and bible verses into Inupiaq. Nancy had a powerful relationship with God and credited the Creator for helping her through all the challenges she faced. Nancy worked hard as a homemaker for the majority of her life. Nancy loved winning at bingo, cooking, eating Inupiaq food, doing puzzles, solving crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and visiting with family. Nancy's quick wit and sense of humor surrounded her with laughter everywhere she went. Nancy leaves behind daughter, Cynthia; brother, Joe; 11 grandchildren, Jason Priest (Krista), Lance Priest (Marie), Gloria Lockwood, Tatauq Muma (Jay), Jessica Ullrich (Jed), Cyrilene Okitkun, James Whitaker III, Ariel Maki, Kyle Williams, Donald Maki and Ande Williams; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard; parents, Helen and Willie; brothers, Ron and Skip; sister, Cora; daughter, Cathie; and son, James. We know Nancy is rejoicing in heaven for being reunited with loved ones. We are grateful for the life and love she gave to all of her descendants.
