Shirley Blankenship, 89, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on Dec. 14, 2021.

Burial will be at Anchorage Memorial Cemetery on June 9, 2022.

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael (Beth), David (Angie), Stephen and Lisa; and daughter-in-law, Abigail. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christian, Daniel, Rebecca, Jennifer, Cedar and Harry; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Cooper, Jaidyn and Clover.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jerry; and eldest daughter, Chris.

Shirley was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on July 14, 1932. She was a secretary for the Anchorage School District for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing with her grandchildren and reading cozy mysteries. Shirley loved her church, St. Anthony's, and was a Eucharistic minister for many years. She spent 14 years helping to organize meals for a local women's shelter.
