May 4, 2022

Narciso Cedano Sanchez, 84, died of natural causes, in peace and surrounded by his family, on May 4, 2022, in Anchorage, Alaska.

He was born in La Vega de los Padres, Colombia, on Feb. 2, 1938, the son of Dolores and Virgilio Cedano and the eldest of four siblings - Elsa, Eli and Jose - who describe him as a model brother and son.

As a longtime fan and lover of Colombian soccer, food and music, he especially enjoyed family reunions. It was very important to him that his children appreciated their birth country and their roots. Narciso was characterized by a presence of consistency, love and compassion, and above all his sense of responsibility.

Narciso was married on July 20, 1963, to Graciela Vargas in the Church of San Luis Gonzaga, and they had six kids: Carlos, Gilma Elena, Oscar, Jairo, Sandra and Sonia.

In 1952, he began his laboring career with the Bank of Colombia, where he worked as a counter for 25 years. Together with his wife they started various businesses including: a clothing shop, a public transport business and a well-known supermarket, La Cosecha.

In 1988, he moved with his family to Anchorage, where he initially worked with the Anchorage Daily News until he retired. On top of this, he maintained his beloved job in Carrs until his final days. There he enjoyed the company of the customers. He always appreciated and respected his adopted country.

He is survived by his wife; six kids, sons and daughters-in-law; 18 nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly and forever.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 12 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral. Interment will follow at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.
